Since this target shooting lane is currently closed, (since Oct 1st), due to nearby logging activity, three of us decided it would be a good opportunity to see the condition and do a little cleanup.
[Note: This closure will most likely last 3 months to ensure safety of the logging crews.]
It was easy and went fast. Only 120 pounds of trash for a whopping total of $17 dollars at the landfill! No problem at all.
Craig & Tracy Yon, and Bill Cogley, all staff members of Trash No Land, did the deed.
Now, when this premium 100 yard shooting lane reopens, it will be nice and clean! Let’s keep it that way!
[Note: Don’t target shoot down in the Crooked Finger Off-Road trails area. Come further North to Scotts Mills, go East on S. Maple Grove Rd, down S. Sawtell Rd and S. Family Camp Rd to Butte Creek Mainline Rd, to the BC615 pit!]
Great work guys you are all amazing!!
Just came across this today. Love this! I live near by and love shooting in this area and always clean up after myself. I didn’t know this was closed as of 10/1. I was just there 10/18 and people were shooting so my friend and I left and went somewhere else so it’s not so crowded.
Outside molalla, up sawtell road. A little past where that guy built the house off family camp road across sharpe road. Past the yellow gate that was added a few years ago . Before the gravel pit that’s next to the road that will take you to butte creek falls.(44.9283591, -122.4892491)
Where is this pit location? Is there anything located near Alger?
The BC615 Pit is located in the Santiam State Forest, Oregon.
If you are referring to Alger, WA, no, I’m not aware of any dispersed target shooting lanes in that area.

I went up there today not know bc615 was closed and the sign at the entrance says see map for another place near by to shoot so I went to the parking area to just check it out and found the map on the info sign in the parking area. So we went to the other place to shoot and there was a little bit of shells and garbage, we picked up all the shells and garbage so it should be clean for the next person.
Thanks for cleaning that up, Mike! We appreciate your respect for public land shooting places!
Bill
The BC 615 Pit has re-opened as of Nov, 2025! Enjoy and keep it clean!
