TNL’s Fundraiser…  A WIN FOR ALL!!!

We didn’t expect the unexpected!

Win 1:  We won full funding for the Wolf Creek Shooting Lanes Improvement Project!

Win 2:  You won longer yardage shooting lanes and a path for wheelchair access all the way to the backstops!

Win 3:  ODF won greater fire protection!

The fundraiser event was a lot of fun.  Lots of great comments about all aspects of the event, from the venue, to the raffle prizes, the auctions, the music, the speakers and the food.  Everyone had a good time!

But our hopes for raising full funding were diminished quickly.

Only 13 guests attended!  How can we raise the needed funds with only 13 guests?!!!

The Wolf Creek improvement project is estimated to be $27,525.  By the end of the event we had raised $4,168, (which is not bad at all for 13 people!)  However, not near enough to get the project done this year.  Our hearts sunk, but we kept our spirits up and had a great time!

Then the surprise happened!

The Founder of a private foundation was one of the 13 guests in attendance.  At the end of the event he approached me and said, quietly, “What ever you need after this event, I’ll cover the difference.  But don’t say who did it.”  WOW!!!  THAT’S $23,500!!!

So now we begin to plan the logistics of getting it done.  Expect the shooting lanes to be closed while the work happens late summer.  The wait will be worth it!

We are so thankful for our event sponsors!

Their donations of products and services was a strong showing of respect for responsible recreation on our public lands.  We encourage you to return the favor and support them every chance you get!

Special thanks goes out to our awesome speakers!

Daniel Mitchell of Sporting Systems, Minuteman Ammunition, Founder and CEO of Washington Civil Rights Assoc, Corp officer and Board Member of the Second Amendment Foundation, gave an enlightening talk about Legislative activity and encouraged everyone to get involved.  He also expressed the importance of respecting our great outdoors and preserving our places to shoot.

Ben Burns, Statewide Recreation Mgr for Oregon Dept of Forestry, spoke about the need for these improvements, his support for recreational target shooting and the critical need for partners in stewardship at target shooting sites.  With each user shooting responsibly, cleaning up each time they visit and respecting target shooting sites, we can all help to keep it open.

The music was fantastic!

We were treated to a great duo, The Badger Mountain Boys!  Jim Cogley and Mark Thomas, from Eugene, played a great mix of Americana, Bluegrass, and Country.  Quite impressive!  They donated their time to provided a fun and relaxing atmosphere.  Thank you Gents!

Here’s our project…

+ Extend distance at 3 of the 4 shooting lanes,

Lane 1: from 34 yards to 100 yards,

Lane 2: from 24 yards to 75 yards,

Lane 4: from 80 yards to 100 yards,

+ Bigger, Better and Safer Backstops at all lanes,

+ Add accommodations for Wheelchair access down each lane,

+ Improved Fire Protection with a 10 foot fire break line around each lane.  (Oregon Dept of Forestry to provide)
